On November 15th America celebrates National America Recycles Day.  Bet you didn’t know that, right?

Well we mention it because recycling is such an important thing to do.  Daily millions of tons of refuge are tossed aside in this country, and much of it leaks dangerous chemicals into the ground and eventually the groundwater.  The sad thing is that much of that garbage could be recycled and reused if only we were a bit more diligent.

And you can bet at All Import Auto Parts we are diligent about recycling.  Heck, our whole business is built upon that concept.

Did you know that the average passenger car is made up of about 65 % steel and iron, and that car bodies are typically about 25% recycled steel?

Did you know that recycling one ton of steel saves about 2500 pounds of iron ore, 1400 pounds of coal and 120 pounds of limestone?

And did you know that cars are the number one recycled product in the United States?

Salvage yards like All Import Auto Parts play a huge part in the recycling effort in the U.S.  Think of it this way:  every salvage part that is sold at a junk yard is a new part that does not have to be made, which means new minerals do not have to be mined.  Think of it this way:  even the parts that we cannot sell at our salvage yard are properly recycled.  Those parts with dangers chemicals in them are properly disposed of, and the metals are sent to companies that properly recycle them and send them to car manufacturers to use over again.

And, don’t forget that every recycled part that is sold is sold to people like you, and that means savings of up to 50% on the cost you would pay to a dealership or auto parts store for a new, aftermarket part.

So you win, the environment wins and the salvage yard wins.  About the only people who lose in this deal are the dealerships and auto parts stores and hey, those are the breaks in business.

The next time you need a replacement part ask yourself if you could do with a quality used part rather than a new part, and ask yourself if you would like to save hundreds of dollars by doing the replacement job yourself.  If the answer to those questions is yes, then head on down to All Import Auto Parts, or your neighborhood reputable salvage yard, and help in our national recycling efforts.  Mother Earth is counting on you.
